Halloween Fun Night and Taco Buffet dinner on Saturday, October 24, 6:00-8:00pm.
Everyone – youth and adults – are invited. Wear your costume, come prepared to decorate mini pumpkins, and join in more fun to be planned. There will be a sign-up sheet for the Taco Buffet items as we get closer to the date.
Children hold a special place here at Shalom! Children are welcome in the Sanctuary and Narthex throughout the service, and we have busy bags and fidget toys for all those busy hands and minds.
From 9 am-end of Feedback/Coffee Hour (summer hours are from 9:45 am-end of Feedback/Coffee Hour): we have a nursery for children in Pre-School and younger, that always has two adult helpers to help with the children, where they will be offered snacks and activities that are age-appropriate. Our helpers are background checked and trained to help children of all ages.
Due to the differences and needs of older children, we ask that any child in Kingertarten and up stay in the Sanctuary and Narthex until Learning Community starts.
Learning Community is for Kindergarteners-5th Graders with lessons from Godly Play Foundation. Godly Play is about learning through story, wonder, and play. Nurturing spiritual lives by honoring the centrality, competency, and capacity of children. Lessons are slightly altered to use inclusive language. Children can expect to have the option to participate in the lesson or do another activity. Snacks are also provided.
Learning Community begins following Children's Chat or the Musical Offering on Communion Sundays. There will always be two adults leading each lesson. Adults that are with the children have been background checked.
Following the lesson, right around the end of the service, Learning Community combines with the Nursery and are welcome to stay through the end of Feedback/Coffee Hour.
We offer Youth Group for High Schoolers once a week on Thursdays, beginning September 17th, from 7:00-9:00 pm.
Most get-togethers will be at Shalom, but occasional fun “field trips” off site will occur. Activities can include personal growth lessons, outreach, humanitarian projects, and games.
